Photography as measurement
Photographs by Mario Ferrara
Tianjin (Tianjin) it is a Chinese city, located near Beijing (its center is only one hundred and thirty km from the Forbidden City) and is one of the most important cities in northern China.
Tianjin is one of the four municipalities of the People's Republic of China and has a population of over ten million making it the fourth largest municipality in China by population after Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing, always in continuous expansion.
Even though the city center is fifty km from the coast, the port of Tianjin is not only the largest in northern China, but it is also at a national level.
And it's just not far from the sea, In the Binhai District, Tianjin economic and technological development area, characterized by constantly moving construction sites, arise the Tianjin CTF Finance Centre of the US group SOM and the Tianjin Binhai Library by the Dutch studio MVRDV.
The photographs selected for the exhibition, they tell the meeting by Mario Ferrara with the Asian metropolis.
Photography becomes here, more than ever, the instrument, quasi the measure, through which the author relates to the large urban scale, the architecture and spaces of the Chinese city.
