ARKEDA OPENING AT THE MICELI NAPLES OLTREMARE EXHIBITION (NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTS): THE PNRR TO RETHINK THE ROLE OF DISCIPLE CITIES (URBAN PLANNING COUNCILOR): CAMPANIA FIRST REGION TO PASS AN ARCHITECTURE LAW

Napoli, 3 December – “Today we have something more than in the past: the Pnrr makes available a large amount of resources which will partly be invested in strategic infrastructure so that our country can become a more modern and equipped country, capable of facing new challenges. The scenario within which these resources will be spent is the scenario of the cities and the territory". The president of the National Council of Architects P.P.C. Francesco Miceli, during the opening of Arkeda, the Architecture Salon, building, design and furniture, ongoing until Sunday in the pavilions 5 e 6 of the Mostra d'Oltremare of Naples, spoke about the fundamental role of architects in planning linked to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

“What we are experiencing – added Miceli – it is an important and decisive moment of restart to build a future of recovery for our country. As a community of architects we think we also play a stimulating role, to propose a different vision of that urban system which in Italy is synonymous with beauty, but which in some cases has also brought disasters. Now it's a matter of finding a path that will lead us to review, reconsider the role of the city, which need to be regenerated. We need to rethink cities as places of life from a perspective in which it is possible to fight climate change, create the conditions so that citizens and urban communities can experience a greater or better quality of life".

At the inauguration of the event, now in its eighth edition, attended by the president of the Order of Architects of Naples Leonardo Di Mauro and, among others, professor emeritus Alberto Cuomo of Federico II of Naples, the designer Franco Poli, Lillo Giglia, young Sicilian architect, and the architect Massimo Pica Ciamarra. “Meetings like these – underlined Pica Ciamarra – they have a very high cultural dimension. The debate promoted at Arkeda gives meaning to fairs because it has a precise relationship with the concreteness of doing".

Angioletto De Negri, patron of Progecta, company that organizes the Show, he spoke of “a fair that opens at a time when, Unfortunately, the pandemic continues, but we are satisfied because we see the enthusiasm to participate, to return to being those of 2019. Seeing the pavilions full makes us proud. Here there are the greatest architects in Italy and this makes Arkeda a point of reference for architecture in the Centre-South. We want to grow and become a point of reference for the Mediterranean".

The Urban Planning Councilor of the Campania Region, Bruno Discipolo, participated in a panel on Superbonus and Ecobonus which took place in the afternoon in the pavilion 5 of the Fuorigrotta exhibition center. “As a Region – the councilor recalled – we have just communicated the result of a tender issued in implementation of the regional law 19 of the 2019, that is, the law for the promotion of the quality of architecture. We were the first Italian region to launch support and promotion legislation for the elevation of the works that will be carried out in Campania, as well as for the promotion of modern and contemporary architectural culture in general through study initiatives, research, the preservation of archives, the construction of architectural houses in the main cities of Campania. This is a set of actions that will certainly be able to positively support the construction sector and the quality of the architectural projects carried out in Campania".

Arkeda continues tomorrow and Sunday with seminars and workshops that will enrich the exhibition spaces and initiatives scheduled in the Theater of Ideas (Pavilion 5).
