ULTRACERAMIC

people and objects of the future

Ultraceramica is a medium-term project (up to 2019) who experiences the action on

territories and in the ceramic districts of the Campania regions, Puglia, Basilicata and Sicily.

The collection provides for the prototyping of furnishing accessories, mainly intended for the table, to furniture and people, characterized by the prominent use of ceramics in its various forms and technologies.

A separate section will concern the use of decorated double-fired ceramic for floors and coverings aimed at updating motifs and textures.

The projects are born in the wake of Italian design, they measure themselves with anthropological evolution

contemporary and, innovating, they enhance the technical culture of Southern Italy, manual work, techniques and processes, including industrial ones. According to the original vision of the ADI, design must be understood as a system that connects production with users by integrating research, innovation and technique, to give functionality, social value, cultural meaning to goods distributed on the market.

The specificities of the Collection can be summarized in the strong adherence to the production capabilities of the companies involved, in the ability of the protagonists to update tradition, in formal experimentation, typological and decorative to project the ceramic product into the housing models of the future, placing man and his culture at the center of the project within a framework of social responsibility of the product.

A specific sector of the research will concern the design of tiles for coverings and floors. Double-fired tiles have undergone a progressive commercial and cultural marginalization due to the unattainable technical and economic performance of porcelain stoneware which now, however, seems to have exhausted its growth trend.

The market could therefore be susceptible to a revisitation of glazed terracotta, probably aimed at small formats, to materiality, to decorations, to volumetric opportunities, with infinite and lively colours.

Naturally, all these ideas will have to find their reason for being in overcoming traditional styles and geometries and adhering to updated uses and typologies., as well as characterized by a new expressiveness of double firing inspired by contemporary culture.

The first group of objects, see it in action 25 very different authors, whose personal inclination is made homogeneous by elements characterizing and unifying the entire collection, the Collection will be

expanded and exhibited in Puglia, Basilicata and Sicily.
